H1N1 Flu

Human cases of H1N1 influenza A virus infection have been identified in the United States and in Nebraska.  South Heartland Health District ( Adams, Clay, Nuckolls, and Webster Counties) began receiving reports of lab-confirmed cases in July. The 9th death in Nebraska due to H1N1 occurred in Adams County in November. This was the second death in Adams County attributed to H1N1. (See press release)

On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization raised the global pandemic alert to Phase 6, indicating widespread human to human transmission of the novel H1N1 influenza virus.
